JAMESTOWN – On Feb. 21, the marquee at the Reg Lenna Center for the Arts will light up for the ’70s tribute concert “Sounds of Motown” to benefit the local 4-H.

The show is what the title says it is: a Motown tribute concert to benefit our county 4-H Youth Development Program, just with a little more to it. Four young, overly enthusiastic

Lucille Ball-like entertainers discover there is an audience awaiting a show and mistakenly believe the original band forgot the show, thus they take over. The hilarity ensues when the four innocently bring their own comical entertainment intermixed between the moments the “real” show takes the stage.

It’s a back and forth riotous commotion including fast-paced covers of songs such as “Signed, Sealed, and Delivered” and “R-E-S-P-E-C-T,” dance numbers, and comedy ranging from witty banter to old-fashioned slapstick.

The cast of “Sounds of Motown” is comprised of many recognized names in the community. Performers of the “Sounds of Motown” include Logan Beard, theater veteran and professional entertainer from Pennsylvania; Shannon Nixon, 2010 winner of Chautauqua’s Got Talent; and national touring singers Jamie Lee Bonfiglio-Davis and Karen Buck. Guest appearances include Angelo and Ylsa Giuffre, owners of the Spire Theater; Kira Spencer, owner of the Willow Bay Theater; and a few other surprise names the audience will certainly recognize.

Masked Productions and Wall Street Dairy LLC present “Sounds of Motown” to benefit the Chautauqua County 4-H Youth Development Program. Additional sponsors include H&H Enterprises. 4-H is the youth development program at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County. 4-H offers a variety of youth development career readiness and life skills programming to over 1,300 youth in Chautauqua County, hosting nine countywide animal projects, more than 50 non-animal opportunities and special interest programs teaching life skills such as safety, conservation, public speaking and more. 4-H has partnered with the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation to develop and grow the program through the Chautauqua County 4-H Endowment Fund. Through the community’s support to the 4-H Endowment, youth in Chautauqua County will continue to flourish for many years through the Chautauqua County 4-H Youth Development Program.

4-H Issue Leader Emily Kidd said, “This new fundraiser is an extremely exciting venture. It is a great way for those that have supported 4-H throughout the years to continue to do so and for new connections to be made. It sounds like a really fun show that I am looking forward to seeing.”

Doors open at 7 p.m. for the reception and basket raffles and the curtain rises at 8 p.m. Proceeds go toward Cornell Cooperative Extension Chautauqua County 4-H.
