The North Shore Arts Alliance invites the community to the opening reception for “The Not So Grand Landscape” art exhibition running from May 16 through June 22 at Sensory Winery & Art Gallery in Ripley. The opening reception takes place this Friday, May 16 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Show curator Bill Smith explained, “‘The Not-So Grand Landscape’ is about the discovery that there is much to observe and depict in our smaller views, which include landscape details, neighborhood vignettes and people doing their everyday things. This show will avoid common scene grand landscapes and obvious locations, offering an interesting theme to our patrons and an intriguing challenge to our artists.”

Seventeen artists are participating in this thought provoking show, all of whom are members of the North Shore Arts Alliance. The artists are Barb Del Monte (photography), Bill Smith (photography), Robert Holland (mixed), Christine French (photography), Cyn Jones-Gailey (stained glass), Barb Joy (stained glass), Diane Andrasik (photography), George Petrella (painting), Linda Lavid (painting), Lori Deemer (photography), Mara Rubin (photography), Marcia Merrins (ceramic and fiber), Mary Ann Jankowski (painting), Nancy Nixon Ensign (painting), Patti McCord Kalosky (painting), Ronnie Lafferty (painting) and Trenton Lutes (photography/painting).

In all there will be over 60 works of art on display and available for sale. Those who attend the opening and visit the exhibition also have the opportunity to participate in a wine tasting at Sensory Winery & Art Gallery. The hours are Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Beginning in June, winery and gallery hours are Friday through Monday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The North Shore Arts Alliance is a not-for-profit co-operative marketing, promotional, and membership organization working on behalf of artists in Chautauqua County, New York. The organization seeks to foster an environment where art strengthens the County’s image, economic vitality, and quality of life. To that end, juried membership is offered to local artists as well as membership opportunities for individuals and businesses who want to support the Arts Alliance’s efforts to promote and integrate the arts into everyday life in the community.
