Willowfest nears

SILVER CREEK – Willow Creek Winery is having its 14th Annual Willowfest Friday and Saturday. This event is held as a two-day festival in which food, drink, music and play all come together.

Originally held as a one-day family party for owner Doug Metzger, Willowfest has become a kickoff to summer for the winery. All weekend long there will be live music, great wines, craft vendors, food vendors, rides for the kids and elaborate fireworks to end each evening.

Friday starts at 5 p.m. and features live music from Terry Buchwald, known for his Elvis tribute. Terry has been hip swiveling on the Willow Creek Winery stage for years. Hailing from Buffalo, audiences have been astonished by his dynamic voice and striking resemblance to “The King.” Along with Buchwald as Elvis, there will be a Fireman’s Hose Race at 6:30 p.m. The night will conclude with a fireworks display.

Saturday begins at noon with local rock band, Imortal, playing classic rock hits. They will be followed by Black Widow, western New York’s number one rock band. Black Widow’s diverse repertoire has been enchanting audiences with Lana Marie’s thunderous vocals, and the band’s hard-hitting musicality is something not to be missed.

Following Black Widow will be Sean Patrick McGraw. This will be his second visit to the Willow Creek stage, after opening for American country group Parmalee on May 30. A Dunkirk native, Sean has been hitting the country music scene, opening for other popular country groups including Toby Keith. Sean also wrote Montgomery Gentry’s hit song “My So Called Life.”

The weekend will end with New York’s largest hand-lit Fireworks display (approximately one hour).
