3rd on 3rd Gallery opens ‘Women Create’; issues a call for art

The juried art show “Women Create” opened Tuesday at 3rd on 3rd Gallery. A free public reception will be open to the public this Friday at 6 p.m. The Gallery has also put out a call for art for an upcoming show called “Blue Mind.”

“Women Create” is a juried art show featuring the work of female artists living within 100 miles of Jamestown, NY. Featured artists this year include: Kimberly Christy, Marcia Merrins, Nancy Ensign, Stephanie Zwyghuizen, Erin Griffith, Jodi Staniunas Hopper, Jessica Smith, Sara Baker Michalak, Katherine Stuart, Terry Lair, Audrey Kay Dowling, Ashley Ordines, Catherine Panebianco, Nicole Shields, Wendy Bale, Jonna Grigelvich, Lisa Schmidtfrerick, Leslie Calmieri, Susan B. Barnes, Marie Stewart, Jenny Brown, Christy J. Johnson, Kimberly Turner, Erin Ruffino, Laura McGraw, Linda Certo, Connie Bahan, Lucy Bryant, Karen Glosser, Kathleen Quinn-Leslie, Cynthia Norton and Carrie Ann Tredo. The guest juror this year is Western New York native and Philadelphia-based artist Rise Peacock

2019’s “Women Create” show is the latest in a series which began earlier this decade. The exhibit has been displayed in the past in the original 3rd on 3rd Gallery location and Dykeman-Young Gallery.

Works of art are now being accepted for an upcoming show called “Blue Mind”. The title refers to a mildly meditative state characterized by calm, peace, unity, and a sense of general happiness and satisfaction with life in the moment”. It is brought on by time spent near, in, on, and under water. The aim of this movement is to connect (or reconnect) people to water as a means of enriching their lives on an emotional, mental, spiritual, and social level. With this connection comes a deep love for our waters. (And by loving our waters, we then become good stewards of our waters.) Art work that celebrates the beauty and joy of water is is encouraged to be submitted. Art may be submitted through May 5, 2019 through curatorspace.com/opportunities/detail/bluemind/3196.
