Fredonia’s Opera House has rescheduled “A Dog’s Journey” to Saturday and Tuesday.

The next feature film in the Opera House Cinema Series is the family film, “A Dog’s Journey,” starring Dennis Quaid. It will be screened on Saturday, Aug. 3, and Tuesday, Aug. 6, at 7:30 p.m.

The screening is rescheduled from July when technical issues at the Opera House prevented its presentation.

In this sequel to “A Dog’s Purpose,” Bailey (voiced again by Josh Gad) is living the good life on the Michigan farm of his “boy,” Ethan (Quaid). He even has a new playmate: Ethan’s baby granddaughter, CJ, until CJ’s mom decides to take her away. As Bailey’s soul prepares to leave this life for a new one, he makes a promise to Ethan to find CJ and protect her at any cost. Thus begins an adventure through multiple lives filled with love, friendship, devotion, joy, heartbreak, and a few really good belly rubs.

Devesh Sharma, in Filmfare, calls the film “destined to put a smile on your face.” Chuck Yarborough, in the Cleveland Plain Dealer, calls is “a must-see for any dog lover.” Josh Terry, in the Deseret (Salt Lake City) News, notes “it’s pretty rare that a sequel improves on an original, but that is certainly the case with Gail Mancuso’s ‘A Dog’s Journey’.” Katie Walsh, in the Los Angeles Times, says “it’s about halfway through the film when one realizes how much deeper (the filmmakers) are going with this dog’s journey… it’s about how dogs can fill the hole in your heart that a person might leave.” Rated PG for thematic content, some peril and rude humor, “A Dog’s Journey” runs one hour, 48 minutes.
