JAMESTOWN — Christopher Wakefield has been named director of Jamestown Community College’s concert band.

Wakefield, a Jamestown High School graduate, also directs the band program at Clymer Central School.

JCC’s concert band is open to JCC students and community members. Wakefield will also direct the pit orchestra for JCC’s musicals.

Wakefield earned bachelor’s degrees at Niagara University and Northern Illinois University and a master’s degree at DePaul University. Prior to joining the faculty at Panama in 2015, he taught at schools in Chicago and Evanston, IL.

He is a member of the Chautauqua County Music Teachers Association board of directors and has performed with the Living Christmas Tree Orchestra, Jamestown Area Community Orchestra, Dave Gallando Big Band, and the Thursday Morning Brass/Dixie Lakesiders.
