Musical Journeys: A Fall Piano Recital set for Sunday
The Hannah Hasbrouck Petersen Memorial Concert Series is please to announce the second event in this year’s schedule.
On Sunday, Oct. 6 at 2 p.m., all are invited to “Musical Journeys: A Fall Piano Recital.” Dr. Leonidas Lagrimas and Dr. Brendan Jacklin will perform an afternoon of solo and duet works for piano spanning the centuries from Baroque to modern.
Dr. Lagrimas is an Assistant Professor of Piano at the Fredonia School of Music, and serves as Coordinator of the secondary piano program. He teaches courses in Piano Pedagogy, applied skills for piano majors, and applied piano for non-majors. Dr. Lagrimas taught public school music in New York City for ten years, and later received his Ph.D in Piano Pedagogy/Music Education from Florida State University. He has performed as a solo and collaborative pianist throughout the East Coast, including appearances as a collaborative pianist at Carnegie Hall and St. Patrick’s Cathedral. In addition to teaching and performing, Dr. Lagrimas is an active musical theatre director and accompanist.
Canadian pianist Dr. Brendan Jacklin is currently based out of Nashville, Tennessee. He is an active performer, teacher, new music advocate, and adjudicator. As an avid performer of contemporary music, he has premiered dozens of works. A special interest of his involves performing interdisciplinary and multimedia music which may include visual and electronic elements as well as spoken poetry and dance.
Sunday’s concert will include works by Bach, Scarlatti, Ligeti, Evan Williams, and Debussy.
The HHP Memorial Series concerts take place at the Fredonia First United Methodist Church at 25 Church St. in Fredonia. All concerts are free, but donations are always gratefully accepted. The church is fully handicapped accessible, and all are welcome!
