Boy Scouts receive awards at Court of Honor

Fredonia’s Boy Scout Troop 267, sponsored by American Legion Post #59 in Fredonia, held a Court of Honor on Dec. 16. The Court of Honor ceremony began with the Advancement of Colors and the Pledge of Allegiance led by Master of Ceremonies, Matt Brown, Life Scout. Chaplain Walt Sedlmayer said the Opening Prayer, and the Scout’s Committee Chairperson, Cynthia Smith, welcomed the Scouts and their families.

Scout awards, rank advancements and 24 Merit Badges were given out by Scoutmaster Thomas Annear and Senior Patrol Leader, Matthew Brown. Two scouts received the rank of Scout and Tenderfoot: Charli Callen and Natasha Kemp. Alex Biscaro, Samuel Bowers, Riley Mourer, Jack Spengler and Cooper Stenger advanced to Second Class Scout. Samuel Bowers, Ryan Proffitt, Jack Spengler and Cooper Stenger advanced to First Class Rank. Isaac Williams received the rank of Star. Life Rank were awarded to TJ Ackley, Riley Smith Mallon and Colden Noody. Hunter Noody earned his Eagle Scout rank.

Ledreth Velez-Olmo received the Boy Scout World Conservation Emblem, Dylan Gee received the 100 Nights of Camping Award, Orion Thompson earned the Paul Bunyan Woodsman Emblem, Firem’n Chit and the Totin’ Chip. BSA Scuba awards were earned by Joseph Bowers, Sam Bowers, Cortland Lehnen, Colden Noody, Hunter Noody, Riley Smith Mallon, Riley Mourer, Ledreth Velez-Olmo and Lenieth Velez-Olmo. The Silver Eagle Palm was awarded to Joseph Bowers.

Troop 267 meets Mondays at 7 p.m. at Memorial Post 59, 156 E. Main St. in Fredonia, and is open to all boys and girls who are at least 11 years of age or have completed the fifth grade.
