Three WACS seniors earn Rotary honors

Dylan Rammelt

Academic scholarship, leadership and positive character describe three Westfield Academy and Central School District senior students who were recently named as Rotary Club of Westfield-Mayville Scholars of the Month for the past three months. The honorees were Alexa Quagliana for the month of December, Dylan Rammelt for January, and Hunter Dellow for February. Each received a framed certificate as a token of recognition.

Alexa Quagliana, a senior, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel and Alicia Quagliana. During her high school career, Alexa has excelled in her studies. She will graduate in June of 2021 with a Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation with Honors with Mastery in Science and Mastery in Mathematics.

Quagliana, who enrolled in seven different high school art courses, is also an exceptional artist.

She is a member of the WACS Chapter of the National Honor Society. She earned the Academic Achievement Honors Patch, the Academics Pin 1, the Academics Excellence Pin #2, and the Academics All-Star Pin. Quagliana was honored with the Wells College 21st Century Leadership Award and the WACS High School Student of the Month in Oct. 2019.

This scholar volunteers as a mathematics tutor to middle school students and as a materials organizer for the art department. She is employed at Boxcar Barney’s and also in child care and pet care.

Alexa Quagliana

In the fall of 2021, Quagliana will attend Wells College to pursue a degree in Environmental Science.

Dylan Rammelt, a senior, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David and Crissy Rammelt. During his junior year, he enrolled in three Jamestown Community College courses and also an Advanced Placement course. In his senior year, he enrolled in five JCC courses. At the end of his senior year, Rammelt will have earned 28 college credits. He will graduate from WACS in June of 2021 with a Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation with Mastery in Science and Mastery in Mathematics.

Rammelt has earned the Academics Honors Patch, Academics Pin #1, Academic Excellence Pin #2 and the Academics All-Star Pin. He received the University of Rochester George Eastman Young Leaders Award, and he was named as WACS Student of the Month during his entire high school career.

In the Westfield community, Rammelt is employed by Java Farm Supply. He is a volunteer at the Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue, and he served as an Algebra I tutor for middle school students.

In the fall of 2021, Rammelt will attend Jamestown Community College or enter the military.

Hunter Dellow

Hunter Dellow, a senior, is the son of Wade and Wendy Dellow. In addition to his local credit courses, this scholar enrolled in six Jamestown Community College courses. At the end of his senior year, Dellow will have earned 34 college credits. He will graduate in June of 2021 with a Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation with Mastery in Science.

During his sophomore year, Dellow was inducted into the WACS Chapter of the National Honor Society. He is a reliable and friendly student who embodies the core values of the NHS: character, leadership, scholarship and service. For the past several years, Dellow has been a member of the varsity baseball team and also the statistician for the varsity boys basketball team.

Dellow is also a member of environmental club, senior high band, senior high chorus., Westwinds (a select choral ensemble) and Ape-men (an all-male singing group). He is a member of the hand bell ensemble, steel pan ensemble and the McClurg Street String Band. He has held roles in the school musicals of Newsies, The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickelby, A Christmas Carol and Camp Rock.

Outside of school, Dellow volunteers with the Westfield Recreation Department, and he has held employment at Knot Right Fishing Charter. In the fall of 2021, Dellow will attend either Penn State University, the University at Buffalo or Paul Smith College to pursue a degree in Engineering or Fish and Wildlife Science.

The Rotary Club of Westfield-Mayville proudly honors Alexa Quagliana, Dylan Rammelt and Hunter Dellow as Rotary Scholars of the Month of Westfield Academy and Central School, and it congratulates them for their many outstanding achievements.
