Installation of officers for the 2023-24 membership took place recently at the Ellington Rod & Gun Club. Leon town justice, Holly Abers, officiated. Officers for the coming term are President Brian Spiller; Vice President Christina Lyndsley; Treasurer Jackie Ellis; Secretary Donna Snyder; and Fire Chief Jason Lyndsley. Not in attendance was Bryan Mozes, first assistant. Lyndsley was also sworn in as fire police captain. Pat Bromley was recognized for her work as she stepped down as Vice-President.

The Junior Community Service Award was presented to Addison Lyndsley. Ryan Emmick received recognition for 10 years of continuous, dedicated service to the department.

Well over 100 calls were responded to during the 2022-23 membership year. Top responders for this time period were Jason Lyndsley (75), Christina Lyndsley (56), Bryan Mozes (51) and Jack Herman (50). A total of 22 members received responder certificates.

Fire Chief Jason Lyndsley recognized the mutual aid departments of South Dayton, Conewango and Cherry Creek. Knowing that they can be counted on when the tones drop is crucial and reassuring. A big thank you was extended to Randolph Regional EMS for partnering with Leon to provide care to the Leon community.
