Gowanda man arrested in stabbing incident

COLLINS The New York State Police at Collins recently took Johnny Bouknight, 35, of Gowanda into custody for first-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Troopers were called to Lake Shore Hospital in Hanover Tuesday evening after the victim of a stabbing drove himself there with a stab wound to the chest. The victim was later transported to ECMC, where he remains in good condition.

Uniform Troopers and Bureau of Criminal Identification personnel located and arrested Bouknight without incident Wednesday afternoon at his residence in Gowanda. The State Police were assisted by Gowanda Police and the Erie County Sheriff’s Office. Investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Bouknight was arraigned at the Collins Town Court and remanded to the Erie County Holding Center on bail.
