Sheriff’s investigating fatal accident in Gerry

GERRY – The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a single car accident that left a Jamestown man deceased Friday night.

Deputies are investigating the crash that occurred at 11:11 p.m. on Route 60 in the town of Gerry. Aaron Hartman, 48, of Jamestown was traveling on Route 60 when his vehicle left the road and struck a tree. Hartman was taken to WCA Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Police believe he may have suffered a medical emergency that caused the accident. The accident remains under investigation.

Charges filed after four-car accident

Dunkirk Police responded to a motor vehicle accident that involved four cars on Jan. 27. At 7:06 p.m. Jermaine Kenner, 34, of South Margay Street was at the stop sign at the intersection of East Front and Webster streets. Kenner admitted to failing to stop at the stop sign and his vehicle collided with a vehicle operated by Austin J. Ganey, 17, of Mullet Street. Traveling with Ganey was Kevin Ganey, 16. The second vehicle then was pushed into a parked car, and subsequently the parked car was pushed into a second parked car. Kenner was charged with failure to stop at a stop sign. There were no injuries reported.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office

BEMUS POINT – On Jan. 30 a Bemus Point man was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and speed in zone.

At 8:40 p.m. John Sirianno, 52, of Bemus Point, was stopped in the village of Bemus Point for speed in zone. After an investigation it is alleged he was found to have a suspended New York State license for failure to answer a summons. Sirianno appeared in the Town of Charlotte Court and will appear later in the Town of Ellery Court to answer to the charges.

Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office

PERRYSBURG – On Jan. 26, a Batavia woman was charged with DWI, aggravated DWI with blood alcohol content 18 percent or higher, failure to maintain lane and open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle after the vehicle she was driving got stuck in a snow bank.

Around 7:25 p.m., Jill E. Fried, 36, of Batavia was charged after her vehicle was found stuck in a snow bank which she struck on Prospect Street in the town of Perrysburg. She was released with traffic tickets to appear in court at a later date.

DAYTON – A Cattaraugus man was charged with DWI and failure to keep right after a motor vehicle accident in the town of Dayton. Jefferey A. Schosek, 29, of Cattaraugus, was transported to Lake Shore Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The accident remains under investigation and more charges may be filed.
