St. Bonaventure student found dead in Allegany

ALLEGANY – A 19-year-old St. Bonaventure University student was found dead in the town of Allegany Sunday afternoon.

According to the Cattaraugus County Sher-iff’s Office, Tyler S. Davis went missing early Saturday morning. He was later found deceased around 3 p.m. The investigation is ongoing.

Sunday evening, St. Bonaventure released this statement:

“It is with immense sadness that we advise the campus community that the Cattaraugus County Sher-iff’s Department this afternoon informed University officials that they found St. Bonaventure University sophomore Tyler Davis deceased near the west entrance of the campus….

“Tyler, from Rochester, was a History major at the University. His family has expressed deep appreciation to the campus community, police and emergency response officials for their efforts.”

Lincoln Avenue fire in Dunkirk snuffed out

The Dunkirk Fire Department answered a report of a structure fire at 275 Lincoln Ave., which came in at 9:15 a.m. Sunday.

According to a press release, upon arrival, firefighters found an occupied structure with smoke present on the first floor.

After evacuating all of the occupants, the fire was discovered in the basement of the residence. The fire was contained to the basement with moderate damage.

Crews were on location for one hour. The cause was determined to be faulty wiring.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office

HANOVER – A 17-year-old male youth of Hanover Street, Silver Creek, was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief Sunday around 5 p.m.

According to a press release, the charge stems from an incident that occurred Saturday around 10:15 p.m. on Route 5 and 20. At that time and place, the youth allegedly broke a window by punching it with his fist.

SILVER CREEK – Lisa Dale, 43, of Washing-ton Avenue, Dunkirk, was charged with driving while intoxicated, having a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or greater and speed in zone on Sunday.

Around 3 a.m., deputies observed a vehicle speeding on Central Avenue. The vehicle was stopped and the operator was identified as Dale.

After interviewing Dale, it was determined she was allegedly operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and was taken into custody. She was then released to a sober party.

HANOVER – Randy Beutel, 45, of Lockport was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or higher and failure to keep right on Sunday.

Around 1:45 a.m., deputies stopped a vehicle on Dennison Road for an observed vehicle and traffic violation. An investigation led to the driver, who was identified as Beutel, being charged due to allegedly operating the vehicle in an intoxicated condition.

Beutel was taken into custody, processed and released with traffic tickets. He is due in Hanover Town Court to answer the charges.

Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office

PERRYSBURG – An-drew Samuelson, 52, of Taylor Hollow Road, Go-wanda, was charged Friday with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or greater, failure to keep right and failure to maintain a lane.

Deputies stopped Samuelson on North Road around 11:30 p.m. after he was allegedly observed weaving in the lane and crossing the center and onto the shoulder. An investigation revealed an alleged presence of alcohol.
