A possible armed robbery of a Robin Street resident occurred early Thursday evening in the Robin Street underpass area underneath the CSX railroad in the city of Dunkirk.

According to the police scanner, two Hispanic males wearing masks were spotted heading south on Robin Street around the time of the incident. The scanner stated one may have been carrying a small black pistol, while another may have been carrying a knife.

Dunkirk Police would neither confirm nor deny a gun was present at the scene, but said they did not believe there was any public safety concern stemming from the incident.

“This is a case of something being true, but not true,” the dispatcher said.

No other information could be provided. Investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
