PANAMA – A Falconer woman has been charged for allegedly texting while driving that caused a car accident on Dec. 25.

Paige N. O’Brien, 24, was charged with failure to keep right and texting while driving. New York State Police at Jamestown investigated the accident on Route 474 at around 2 p.m.

According to police, O’Brien was allegedly texting while traveling east. Her vehicle drove across the oncoming lane of traffic, off the north side of the road striking a street sign and a telephone pole. Her vehicle also struck a speed limit sign before coming to rest off the north shoulder.

Another vehicle, operated by Bradley J. Minor, 26, of Clymer was heading west at the time of the accident. He swerved to avoid collision with O’Brien’s vehicle resulting in hitting a mailbox.

O’Brien was treated at the scene for a bloody nose. She will appear in Harmony Town Court at a later date.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office

PORTLAND – Garry J. Gilroy, 53, of Westfield was charged with having no or inadequate headlights and driving while intoxicated on Wednesday.

At 8:27 p.m. deputies observed Gilroy’s vehicle allegedly operating on Route 5 with less than two headlights.

During the traffic stop, it was found Gilroy was allegedly intoxicated. He will appear in Portland Town Court at a later date.

Gowanda Police

Ashley J. Slocum, 26, of Perry Street was charged with driving while intoxicated and driving without headlights on Dec. 14. Slocum was stopped for driving with no headlights on Commercial Street where it was found she was allegedly intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .09 percent. She will appear in Persia Town Court. The Erie County Sheriff’s Office assisted with this call.

Jenna M. Weiss, 22, of Zoar Valley Road was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI and driving without headlights on Dec. 15. Weiss was stopped for driving without headlights on Buffalo Street and was found to be allegedly intoxicated. Weiss’ blood alcohol content was found to be .20 percent, resulting in an aggravated DWI charge. She will appear in Collins Town Court. New York State Police assisted with this call.

Jeremiah A. Bednarek, 32, of Miller Street was charged with second-degree criminal trespass and fourth-degree criminal mischief degree on Dec. 20. Police responded to the report of an unwanted guest at a Buffalo Street residence. Bednarek, who appeared intoxicated, had allegedly kicked in the door and refused to leave the residence. He was arraigned in Collins Town Court and sent to the Erie County Holding Center in lieu of $1,000 bail.

A 16-year-old male was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest on Dec. 27. Police were called to a Buffalo Street business where the male allegedly began yelling and threatening an employee. The male began hostile and aggressive toward patrol and allegedly attempted to fight with officers. The male was arraigned in Collins Town Court and released on his own recognizance to his parents.

Elijah D. Logan-Cobb, 22, of Walnut Street was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing and child endangerment on Dec. 28. Logan-Cobb was previously involved in an incident on Dec. 4 where he allegedly grabbed a female victim choking her to the floor in the presence of a child. Logan-Cobb was arraigned in Persia Town Court and sent to the Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $2,000 bail.

State Police at Jamestown

SHERMAN – Cole E. Jacobs, 19, of Bay Village, Ohio was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Wednesday. Troopers responded to the report of a vehicle off the road on I-86.

It was found that Jacobs was allegedly in possession of marijuana and police found marijuana in the vehicle with assistance from K-9 Kubi.

Jacobs will appear in Sherman Town Court.
