Small fire on Serval Street

The Dunkirk Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire located at 141 S. Serval St. on Monday at 1 p.m. Fire was located in the ceiling area of a second floor bathroom.

All residents had evacuated prior to the fire department’s arrival. The fire was quickly extinguished with minor extension into the attic area. Damage was limited to the room of fire origin.

The cause of the fire was a faulty electrical fixture.

There were no injuries and the occupants were able to return to the residence.

¯ FALCONER — On Saturday troopers responded to I-86 in Falconer for the report of a one-car accident.

According to troopers, Codie Swartz, 19, of Jamestown had been driving east on I-86 when his vehicle exited the roadway, crashing into a ditch. After allegedly failing several standard field sobriety tests he was taken to the Jamestown office and evaluated by a drug recognition expert.

He was charged with driving while ability impaired and released. He is due to appear in Ellicott Town Court on a later date. Swartz was uninjured in the accident.

¯ JAMESTOWN — On Sunday troopers pulled a vehicle over on Fairmont Avenue in Jamestown for traffic violations. The driver was identified as Andres Gascot-Correa, 33, of New Britain, Connecticut. While speaking with Gascot-Correa troopers allegedly smelled marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Investigation purportedly revealed one Adderall pill, two doses of LSD, a marijuana cigarette and a bag of marijuana.

Gascot-Correa was charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance by ultimate users original container and unlawful possession of marijuana.

He was arraigned in Ellicott Town Court and taken to the Chautauqua County Jail.

¯ STOW — On Monday troopers pulled a vehicle over on I-86 in Stow for allegedly speeding. The operator was identified as Lloyd Cooper, 29, of Chicago, Illinois.

Troopers said they could smell marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. A search reportedly revealed a bag containing three-grams of marijuana.

Cooper was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and was released.

He is due to appear in North Harmony Town Court on a later date.
