North Collins Police Department

≤ In March 2019, North Collins Police Officers were on duty for 143 hours. Officers responded to 59 various requests for police, including the following: one suspicious vehicle complaint, one suspicious person complaint, two assists to other police departments, one road obstruction, two assists to EMS, one assist to North Collins Fire Department, one funeral detail, two community policing details and four court details.

Regular property checks were conducted of schools, businesses, public property, all town parks and vacant properties. Regular curfew checks were conducted. Traffic control details were conducted at the conclusion of church masses in the village and in Langford.

The North Collins Police Department issued 45 traffic tickets in March 2019. These tickets included 31 tickets for speeding. The average speed for speeding tickets in the village was 49.58 mph in a 35 mph zone. 10 tickets were issued for cell phone violations, one ticket was issued for a stop sign violation, one ticket was issued for passing on double yellow solid lines, one ticket was issued for a fractured windshield and one ticket was issued for an expired registration.

≤ On Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the North Collins Police Department, the Erie County Department of Health and the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public another opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs and needles. Bring your medications and syringes for disposal to the North Collins Police Department at the Village of North Collins Municipal Building, 10543 Main Street, North Collins. The service is free and anonymous – no questions asked.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department

ASHVILLE — On Sunday at about 4:11 p.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop on Panama Stedman Road for an alleged traffic infraction. Deputies identified the operator to be Richard E. Swanson, 48, of Panama. Subsequent investigation lead to his arrest for DWI, DWI per se, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle and no front plate. Swanson will appear in the Town of North Harmony Court at a later date.

Fredonia Police Department

¯ Sunshine Carroll, 41, of Fredonia was charged April 3 with third degree aggravated unlicensed operation.

¯ Nathan Siracuse, 33, of Sinclairville was charged April 9 with third degree aggravated unlicensed operation.

¯ Sandy Mathew, 49, of Buffalo was picked up on a parking ticket warrant April 12.

¯ Samuel Phillips, 22, of Lewiston was charged April 13 with disorderly conduct.

¯ Youssouf Kante, 19, of Fredonia was charged April 13 with disorderly conduct.

¯ Messiak Gonzalez, no age given, of Dunkirk was charged April 13 with third degree burglary and petit larceny.

¯ Zachary Huber, 33, of Fredonia was charged April 13 with driving while intoxicated and seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
