Cassadaga ZBA member arrested

Cassadaga ZBA member Matthew Cassatt has reportedly been arrested for harassment, following a domestic incident in Fredonia.

On July 10, New York State Police responded to a business in Fredonia for a report of a domestic dispute. Investigation, including a review of surveillance videos, revealed that Matthew Cassatt, 43, of Cassadaga, allegedly followed the victim out of the building and then struck the victim twice.

Cassatt was placed under arrest and charged with second-degree harassment. He was then transported to Chautauqua County Jail. Cassatt was previously arrested in December 2018 for reportedly assaulting a family member in Cassadaga.

National Grid phone scam alert

The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office has issued a warning to county residents about a phone scam. The person is claiming to be a representative of National Grid. The two area codes of the reported calls are 808 and 718. The callers are promising to give discounts on National Grid bills, but then request personal information, such as a social security number or account information. Do not release any personal information or return any calls to either number.

If such a call is received, residents are encouraged to call their local police agency.

Westfield Police Department

≤ On July 8 at around 10:15 p.m., Kevin J. Kelley Sr., 55, of Westfield, was arrested on an outstanding warrant from the Village of Westfield, in relation to an incident that occurred on June 29. On said date, Kelley Sr. allegedly entered and remained in a dwelling in which he had no permission to do so. Kelley Sr. was charged with second-degree criminal trespass and was transported to Chautauqua County Jail for centralized arraignment. Kelley Sr. will answer his charges at a later date.
