Two charged with drug possession in traffic stop

CHAUTAUQUA — Today the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office announced that two individuals were charged with illegal drug possession following a traffic stop last month.

On Sept. 22 at about 2 a.m. deputies on patrol stopped a vehicle for an observed traffic violation on West Lake Road in the town of Chautauqua. The operator was identified as Catherine A. Tooley, 35, of Westfield and a passenger identified himself as Leroy W. Stepp, Jr, 27 of Mayville. Further investigation led to a narcotics sniff of the vehicle by Sheriff’s Office K9 Link, which did alert to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle.

Both Tooley and Stepp were allegedly found in possession of separate quantities of methamphetamine and hypodermic needles.

Stepp was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminally using hypodermic instrument.

Tooley was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminally using hypodermic instrument, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operator, uninspected motor vehicle, and inadequate muffler.

Both subjects were processed and released with citations directing them to appear in town of Chautauqua Court at a later date.

¯ Colton Farnham, a fugitive from justice wanted for an out-of-state drug crime, was picked up Sept. 30.

¯ Matthew Cassatt was charged Sept. 30 with second degree harassment.

¯ Ryan Falco was charged Sept. 30 with petit larceny.

¯ Dann Mulatillo was picked up on a warrant Oct. 2.

¯ Jeremiah Duffy was charged Oct. 2 with second degree harassment and second degree unlawful imprisonment.

¯ Alseny Barry was charged Oct. 6 with criminal impersonation and unlawful possession of marijuana.

¯ Lucas Devita was charged Oct. 6 with unauthorized use or possession of a license and fraudulent obtaining of alcohol by a person less than 21 years old.

¯ Michael Neenon was charged Oct. 6 with a sewer ordinance violation.

¯ Steven Artymowycz was charged Oct. 6 with a sewer ordinance violation.

¯ Andrew Cowan was charged Oct. 6 with a noise ordinance violation.

¯ Hayleigh Sanchez was charged Oct. 7 with second degree harassment.

¯ Joseph Angelo was charged Oct. 7 with second degree harassment.

¯ Carol-Joyce McNamara was charged Oct. 7 with second degree harassment.

¯ Jesse Marble was charged Oct. 8 with third degree aggravated unlicensed operation. Additionally, police found he was wanted on a warrant from Texas.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office

¯ MINA — On Saturday at about 11:15 p.m., deputies observed a vehicle to be traveling on Hazen Road with inadequate tail lamps as well as an expired registration. Deputies stopped the vehicle and identified the operator to be Brandon Marotto, 22, of Panama. Following an investigation into the incident, deputies arrested and charged Marotto with driving while intoxicated, inadequate tail lamps and unregistered motor vehicle. He will answer his charges in Mina Town Court.
