K-9 helps capture woman wanted in stabbing

WESTFIELD — A Westfield woman has been charged after a victim claimed Tuesday morning that he was stabbed on Felton Road.

Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies responded to the alleged assault in progress involving a knife around 5:30 a.m. Upon arrival the injured victim identified the suspect as Rachel A Blanchard, 37, who had fled the scene.

Chautauqua County sheriff’s K9 units responded to the scene. K9 Link was able to locate Blanchard approximately one mile away hiding in a barn off of Prospect Station Road.

Blanchard, who had an additional warrant for fourth-degree criminal Mischief was charged with third-degree assault, third-degree menacing and possession of a hypodermic instrument.

¯ On Jan. 28, Eduardo Alvarado-Rivera, 26, of Dunkirk was charged with two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief and then later that same day was charged again with two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief.

¯ On Jan. 28, Jennifer A. Prentiss, of Fredonia was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

¯ On Jan. 29, Stacy I. Williams, 31, of Jamestown was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, suspended registration and uninspected motor vehicle.

¯ On Jan. 29, Juan Rivera, 31, of Dunkirk was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and no head lights.

¯ On Jan. 31, Norma J. Stanton, 45, of Jamestown was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, no headlights and unregistered motor vehicle.

¯ On Feb. 1, John M. Pokoj, of Falconer was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and no plate lights.

¯ On Feb. 1, Jose A. Vazquez, 44, of Dunkirk was charged with DWI, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, no interlock device, refusal of a breath test, failure to keep right, speed in zone, passing a red light and unlicensed driving.

¯ On Feb. 2, Ricardo C. Maldonado, 40, of Dunkirk was charged with third-degree burglary.

¯ On Feb. 2, Benjamin Catalino, 23 was charged with third-degree burglary and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

¯ On Feb. 4, Juan Rosario Rivera, 31, of Dunkirk was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and speed in school zone.

¯ On Feb. 5, Laurie A Golanka, of Hamburg was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

¯ On Feb. 5, Santos M. Almestica, 29, of Dunkirk was charged with first-degree contempt and second-degree harassment.

¯ On Feb. 8, Ashley A. Gnadzinski, 30, of Fredonia was charged with petit larceny.

¯ On Feb. 9, Billy B. Ewell, 22, of Fredonia was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and inadequate lights.

¯ On Wednesday, Jerry J. Murphy, 25, of Forestville was charged with DWAI, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, failure to keep right, failure to use lane and leaving the scene of property damage. Murphy was involved in incidents that damaged a car on Fourth Street and crashed into a tree and pole on Sixth Street.
