Altercation leads to charges for Jamestown man

SHERMAN — An altercation Sunday morning in the village led to the damage of a vehicle and an arrest of a Jamestown man.

At about 9:20 a.m., Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies, assisted by New York State Police, were dispatched to an address on First Street. Further investigation found that James T. Morris, 37, smashed out both the front and rear windshields of a vehicle, belonging to another individual, using a large rock.

Morris damaged numerous other items belonging to the same individual and also physically struck the other individual. Morris did all of this in front of a juvenile under the age of 17 years old.

Morris was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, endangering the welfare of a child, and second-degree harassment. Morris was taken to the county jail and will answer his charges in town of Sherman Court on a later date.
