NEW YORK STATE POLICE

¯ SHERMAN — Jemini Merzweiler, 24, of Sherman, was charged with second-degree criminal contempt, fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree harassment.

Trooper and sheriff’s deputies responded Friday to a Sherman residence for a reported domestic dispute. An investigation found that during an argument between Merzweiler and another person, Merzweiler allegedly pushed the victim to the ground and struck her in the face. When the victim attempted to call 911, Merzweiler took and hid her phone. This all occurred in violation of a refrain-from order protecting the victim against Merzweiler.

He was processed and transported to Chautauqua County Jail. The following day, troopers responded to the same address and found that Merzweiler arrived at the victim’s residence after being served a stay-away order since his most recent arrest. He was again processed and transported to jail.

¯ Bryant Stevens, 31, of Bemus Point, was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree harassment.

A victim reported that a domestic incident occurred between them and Stevens. An investigation found that Stevens allegedly yelled at their 2-year-old child, at which point Stevens reportedly pushed the victim into the pantry door and placed her in a chokehold, impairing her breathing.

Stevens was processed and transported to jail.
