Falconer man charged in morning robbery incident

Robert A. Arguelles

FALCONER — A 31-year-old Falconer man who reportedly held another person at knife-point while at a bonfire Thursday morning is in Chautauqua County Jail.

The Ellicott Police Department announced the arrest of Robert A. Arguelles after officers were called around 5:20 a.m. to the 200 block of East Everett Street. Det. Kevin Pierce said Arguelles was at a bonfire in Falconer when he allegedly got up and put a knife to the neck of another person, reached into the victim’s pocket, removed a wallet and took about $300.

Arguelles then fled the scene but was located by officers on West Main Street walking toward Jamestown. The village resident was later identified as the person involved in the robbery.

Arguelles was booked into the county jail at 7:40 a.m. and is expected to appear later in Ellicott Town Court on first-degree robbery and second-degree menacing charges.
