POLAND — Jayson E. Sanchez, 23, of Falconer, was charged with second-degree assault. Deputies responded 12:38 a.m. Wednesday to a reported fight on Route 394 in town of Poland. An investigation found that Sanchez allegedly struck another person in the head with a baseball bat. The victim was transported to UPMC Chautauqua for treatment. Sanchez was committed to Chautauqua County Jail to appear for centralized arraignment.

¯ ELLERY — Diane L Metz, 56, of Strykersville, N.Y., was charged with driving while intoxicated, DWI per se and speed in zone. Patrols observed a vehicle speeding Oct. 16 on Route 430 in the town of Ellery. An investigation found that Metz was intoxicated. She is scheduled to appear in Ellery Town Court later.

¯ ELLERY — Greggory J. Schaefer, 48, of West Seneca, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, DWI and speed in zone. Deputies stopped a vehicle Wednesday at 9:10 p.m. on Route 430 in the town of Ellery. An investigation found that Schaefer was intoxicated. He is scheduled to appear in Ellery Town Court later.
