Weather creates hazardous Friday

Friday’s weather created plenty of problems for commuters — and kept the New York State Police busy.

During the day when snowfall was the heaviest, troopers responded to four accidents. At 8:27 a.m., there was a one-vehicle accident on Fredonia-Stockton Road near Cummings Road. At 8:29 a.m., troopers responded to a property-damage accident on Route 60 near Rodeo City Resale.

At 12:24 p.m., three people were involved in an accident on Route 60 in Gerry and two others were involved in a property-damage accident around 3:06 p.m. on Route 60 near Bloomer Road.

No injuries were reported in any of the accidents.

NEW YORK STATE POLICE

— New York State Police charged Shari Stanford, 32, of Fredonia, with driving while intoxicated on Wednesday.

Troopers responded to a one-car accident at Route 60 and Lakeview Road in Fredonia. An investigation revealed that Stafford was driving west on Lakeview Road, left the road for an unknown reason and struck a utility pole, causing damage. Stanford was placed under arrest after failing several field sobriety tests and then transported to Fredonia barracks where she was processed, issued tickets and released. Stanford is scheduled to be in the town of Pomfret Court on a later date. She was uninjured in the accident.

— ARKWRIGHT — Troopers charged Crystal Lore, 28, of Little Valley, with driving while ability impaired by drugs and Leandra’s Law.

Lore was pulled over on Route 83 for driving erratically. Lore exhibited multiple signs of drug impairment and was placed under arrest after failing field sobriety tests. Lore was transported to Fredonia barracks where she was processed, issued tickets and released. Lore is to be in the town of Arkwright Court later in the month. The infant that was in Lore’s vehicle at the time of the traffic stop was turned over to a sober individual.

— Troopers charged Holly Hoitink, 46, of Jamestown, with 10 counts of third-degree falsely reporting an incident.

Between August and November, the New York State Police received multiple law enforcement referrals from Child Protective Services alleging crimes against a male subject. An investigation revealed that all of the reports were fictitious and that they were all made by Hoitink.

Hoitink was located at a residence in Jamestown and placed under arrest. Hoitink is scheduled to be in the city of Jamestown Court later in the month.
