STABBING REPORTED IN FREDONIA SATURDAY

A fairly quiet non-FredFest weekend, which is traditionally held at locations on White Street and Canadaway Street with large student and young adult populations before the end of the spring semester at the State University of New York at Fredonia, turned nasty before 9 p.m. Saturday.

A reported stabbing near 47 Water St. had village fire crews and police crews responding to the incident. According to scanner reports, the victim was being transported to Brooks-TLC.

Police were seeking a suspect on Saturday in the Water Street lot and south on Water Street but did not issue a report as of Sunday afternoon regarding the incident.

JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

–A fracas in a northside Jamestown residence has led to three city individuals facing assault and drug charges.

Jamestown police report they arrived for a domestic abuse call after 1:15 a.m. Sunday at the location. Upon arrival officers discovered that Monica R. Pacheco, 39, and James E. Smouse, 32, engaged in a physical altercation, causing injury. Shortly after, it was then discovered that Dustin A Newbree, 31, damaged property of another. During the investigation officers then located a quantity of narcotics which were in possession of Pacheco and Newbree. All three were taken into custody where they were transported and were awaiting arraignment in Jamestown City Court.

Pacheco was charged with second-degree assault and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Smouse was charged with third-degree assault and Newbree is facing fourth-degree criminal mischief and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance charges.

— Before 1 a.m. Sunday, Jamestown police made a traffic stop in the area of Johnson Street and Willard Street. A male subject, later identified as 62-year-old Brian White, of Jamestown, pulled his car up next to the officers that were on the traffic stop.

An investigation revealed that White was operating the vehicle in an intoxicated condition and without a license. After refusing to comply to exit the vehicle, White was taken into custody. He was transported to the Jamestown City Jail where he was being held pending his arraignment on driving while intoxicated, unlicensed operator, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and resisting arrest charges.

— Zacchae’us Kinsey, no address listed, was charged with first-degree criminal contempt, resisting arrest and second-degree unlawful imprisonment. At about 3:15 p.m. Saturday, Jamestown police responded to a

domestic incident at a north side location. Kinsey is accused of forcefully grabbing the victim, preventing the victim from leaving the residence during a dispute. After a brief foot pursuit, Kinsey was taken into custody and transported to the city jail pending arraignment.

— Maria K. Covert, no address listed, is facing charges of fourth-degree criminal mischief, resisting arrest and second-degree criminal trespass. At 2 p.m. Friday, Covert allegedly began pounding on a door of a residence. When the male victim would not let her inside, she then forced open the door. She was still on scene when Jamestown police arrived and when she was told she was under arrest she became confrontational with officers. After a brief struggle, officers were able to take Covert into custody and she was held in city jail pending arraignment.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

— FRENCH CREEK — Deputies responded to an address on Redding Road around 11 p.m. Saturday for reports of a disorderly female. Upon further investigation, it was alleged that Nicole R. Pangborn, 40, of Clymer caused damage to the property of another individual and struck that person in the back.

Pangborn allegedly entered that individuals apartment without their permission and refused to leave. She was located and charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief, second-degree criminal trespass and second-degree harassment. She was taken into custody and transported to county jail for centralized arraignment.

— Around 1:53 a.m. Saturday, deputies observed a vehicle make a left turn at the traffic circle at Routes 20 and 60 in Fredonia. This vehicle then drove north in the south bound lane. Deputies stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Jacob M. Weaver, 22, of Newfane. An investigaton led to Weaver being charged with driving wrong way at a traffic island, driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated with blood-alcohol content at 0.18% or higher. Weaver was issued traffic tickets and will be in the village of Fredonia Court later.
