Health insurance options for farms up for discussion

JAMESTOWN – An informational meeting about health insurance options for farm businesses and farm families through the New York State of Health Marketplace and the Affordable Care Act will be held on Jan. 16 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The meeting, to be held at the Jamestown Agricultural Center (3542 Turner Road, Jamestown), is sponsored by Cornell University Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County, the New York State Small Business Development Center at Jamestown Community College and The Chautauqua Center.

Chautauqua County agricultural producers are invited to attend this meeting to learn about how the Affordable Care Act will impact them as individuals, families, small business owners, and employers. Experts from two local organizations will provide details on available tax credits, employer mandates, and business and private health plan options through the New York State of Health Marketplace. The event is geared toward agricultural producers, and will offer valuable information for farms of all sizes, regardless of employee numbers.

Lunch will be provided. A fee of $15 to cover the buffet lunch is requested. To register, contact Cornell Cooperative Extension at 664-9502 extension 202 or email vec22@cornell.edu. Pre-registration is required by Thursday.
