Brooks Memorial Hospital welcomes new leaders

Brooks Memo-rial Hospital is welcoming two dynamic new leaders to its organization. Jodi L. Witherill, RN, MHA, NA-BC will begin as the vice president of quality services on March 10 and Terrance P. Dunford will begin as director of corporate communication on Feb. 17.

Witherill is presently serving as the senior director of stroke and neurosciences nursing at Kaleida Health/ Buffalo General Medical Center/ Gates Vascular Institute in Buffalo. She has served as the interim chief nursing executive at Millard Fillmore Gates Hospital and at Buffalo General Medical Center/ Gates Vascular Institute. She has had past service within Lake Erie Regional Health System of New York, serving as vice president for nursing services at Brooks and multiple leadership roles at TLC Lake Shore Health Center including director of long-term care and director of quality.

Witherill, a BSN-prepared nurse, holds a master of science in health services administration, and is board certified as a nurse executive – advanced. She is president of the Western New York Organization of Nurse Executives and Leaders, and serves on the board of the New York Organizations of Nurse Executives and Leaders.

Dunford comes to Brooks with over 30 years of leadership in public affairs, television news management and professional sports. His leadership in communication and public relations has spanned service as the senior communications administrator for West Valley Nuclear Services, serving as vice president of communication for the Buffalo Sabres, as the public affairs officer for the U.S. Treasury Depar-tment’s Internal Revenue Service, upstate New York region, as well as senior news management positions for television stations in Hartford, Conn., St. Louis, Mo. and Buffalo. He has also served as consultant to prominent Buffalo-area businesses and non-profit organization and taught in the communication department at Buffalo State College.

Dunford is active in local area community and volunteer groups, including board service on the Food Bank of Western New York, Greater Buffalo Partnership’s Government Affairs Committee, Springville Chamber of Commerce and service on the United Way of Buffalo and Western New York’s Board of Delegates.

Brooks Memorial Hosp-ital, part of the LERHSNY, is meeting the challenges of the new health care environment by engaging in strategic planning meant to transform the delivery of health care services in its service region.

Gary Rhodes, interim CEO at Brooks. “I am also looking forward to working with Terry as we find new and creative ways to inform and partner with the people that we serve – our patients, physicians and area businesses – as well as with our elected representatives as we look to provide services to meet the full continuum of patient care.”
