Pre-registration deadline today for berry producers meeting

BRANT – Cornell Cooperative Extension will hold a meeting for berry producers in western New York on Monday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Brant Town Hall, 1272 Brant-North Collins Road in Brant. The meeting will cover a variety of topics for the producer of small fruits, including: Strawberries, blackberries, raspberries and blueberries.

Berry producers will learn about various marketing, decision-making and financial analysis tools to increase farm profitability. A presentation on social media will address how farms can utilize tools such as Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest for marketing and communication.

The program will also cover pest management decisions and the costs and benefits of various pest control options. A total of 0.5 pesticide recertification credits will be available in category 22, 1a for participants seeking pesticide credits.

Finally, the program will cover business management topics: Financial statements, record-keeping, utilizing the Cornell Berry Farm Business Summary program to measure profitability, and much more.

Participants who would like to attend must call ahead to pre-register by today. Lunch will be provided.
