Centaur Stride offers free horsemanship clinics

WESTFIELD – Free horsmanship clinics will be offered at Centaur Stride Saturdays from April 5 to May 3 from 2:30 to 4 p.m. for children 8 to 16 years old who are: Siblings of children with disabilities (Sibshops), participants of Compeer, children of actively serving soldiers in war areas and children of wounded warriors (disabled veterans)

Reservations are required and participants must commit to all five lessons for the full clinic. Clinic includes barn and horse safety, ground lessons and riding lessons. Children under 12, or with any medical disability must have a parent or guardian on premises during the clinic. Group size is limited.

Registration forms can be downloaded from the website at www.centaurstride.org. (on the Program page). Parent signature required (and physician signature if there is a physical disability).

Dress includes a tie shoe or sneaker, long pants, and dress for the weather. There is an indoor riding arena, but it is not heated and the barn is usually colder inside than outside. Bring gloves and a hat if it is cold. Helmets are provided. No dangling jewelry, phones or electronic devices near the horses. Behavioral code of conduct applies (i.e. anyone with behavior that could increase risk of injury to a horse, another person or themselves will be instructed that their behavior is a risk and if that behavior does not change to compliance, they will be asked to leave the premises).

For questions call Claudia at 269-4386. To register, call the barn at 326-4318.

Directions to Centaur Stride can be found on the website.

This series of clinics is free through grant funding from The Children’s Guild of Buffalo.
