New creative classes for kids this Spring Break

ALLEGANY – Looking for a creative and productive way for your kids to spend their Spring Break? It’s not too late to sign up for one of the Cattaraugus County Arts Council Art Camps this April 14-18. For only $65, students can register for one of the week-long creative day camps and explore creativity in a fun and educational way.

Budding artists from age 4-7 can explore their imaginations and expand their creative skills during this week-long ArtVenture camp. Led by instructors Courtney Mealy and Heather Carroll, this series will stimulate students’ love of colors, shapes, and materials to develop their fundamental artistic skills. Students will discover a new medium each day and projects will include an introduction to Tie-Dye, Life-size portraits, animals drawings, hand-sewing, and DIY journals. ArtVenture for New Artists will run from 9-10 a.m.

ClayVenture for Young and Junior Artists returns this break with an exciting new list of projects. Students age 7-10 and 10-14 will be led by instructor Patti Rosenswie and expand their knowledge of building fun and functional ceramic artwork. These all-inclusive clay camps will cover a variety of hand building techniques. All new projects include hand built bowls, plates, rockets, and a bird feeder. The final day of class will be spent learning about ceramic glazes and other decorative techniques to complete their works of art. Students will enjoy expanding their creative skills in a fun and encouraging environment.
