CASAC to hold seminar on sex addiction

JAMESTOWN – “Sex Addiction: Multiple Partners, Porn and Cyber Sex,” a seminar sponsored by the Chautauqua Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Council, is scheduled for May 16.

This workshop will discuss sex and the hard wiring of the brain, hypersexuality, sex addiction, porn/internet addiction. There will be discussion on the sexual disorders found in the DSM-V and a look at the brain in terms of sexual addiction. Attendees will also take a look at sex addiction and substance abuse. The main concepts of the workshop will discuss why and how people can become sexually addicted. Treatment will be discussed along with issues associated with sex trafficking.

“Sex Addiction: Multiple Partners, Porn and Cyber Sex” training will be presented by Sandra Johnson, PH.D., MSW, CASAC. This is a three-hour training scheduled for May 16 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Salvation Army, 83 S. Main St., Jamestown.

CASAC training offerings are suitable for community members that are aspiring to learn more about addictions and other related topics to improve their lives and the lives of others.

This course is also for those seeking professional credentialing as a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor, Credentialed Prevention Professional or Credentialed Prevention Specialist. The three hours are approved by the New York State Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services CASAC renewal and CPP & CPS (Section 1). This course work is also recognized and approved by the Pennsylvania Certification Board through reciprocity.

The fee is $45 and pre-registration is required. Community members interested in the topic are welcome and encouraged to attend.
