Prescription drug abuse: The rising epidemic May 15

“Prescription Drug Abuse: The Rising Epidemic,” a seminar sponsored by the Chautauqua Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Council is scheduled for May 15.

The training will be presented by Melanie Witkowski, CPP. This is a 3-hour training scheduled from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 219 Central Ave., Fredonia.

CASAC training offerings are suitable for community members who are aspiring to learn more about addictions and other related topics to improve their lives and the lives of others.

This course is also for those seeking professional credentialing as a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor, Credentialed Prevention Professional or Credentialed Prevention Specialist. The 3 hours are approved by the New York State Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services CASAC renewal and CPP & CPS (Section 1). This course work is also recognized and approved by the Pennsylvania Certification Board through reciprocity.

The fee is $40 and pre-registration is required. Community members interested in the topic are welcome and encouraged to attend.
