TripAdvisor awards Edwards Waterhouse Inn 2014 Certificate of Excellence

The Edwards Waterhouse Inn, 71 Central Ave., Fredonia, recently announced that it has received a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence award.

The accolade, which honors hospitality excellence, is given only to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveler reviews on TripAdvisor, and is extended to qualifying businesses worldwide.

Establishments awarded the Certificate of Excellence are located all over the world and represent the upper echelon of businesses listed on the website.

When selecting Certificate of Excellence winners, TripAdvisor uses a proprietary algorithm to determine the honorees that takes into account reviews ratings. Businesses must maintain an overall TripAdvisor bubble rating of at least four out of five, volume and recency of reviews. Additional criteria include a business’ tenure and popularity ranking on the site.

“Winning the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence is a true source of pride for the entire staff at the Edwards Waterhouse Inn and we’d like to thank all of our past guests who took the time to complete a review on TripAdvisor,” said Maggie Bryan-Peterson, innkeeper and president at the Edwards Waterhouse Inn. “There is no greater seal of approval and honor than being recognized by one’s customers. With the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence based on customer reviews, the accolade is a remarkable vote of confidence to our business and our continued commitment to excellence.”

“TripAdvisor is pleased to honor exceptional hospitality businesses for consistent excellence,” said Marc Charron, president of TripAdvisor for business. “The Certificate of Excellence award gives top performing establishments around the world the recognition they deserve, based on feedback from those who matter most their customers. From Australia to Zimbabwe, we want to applaud exceptional hospitality businesses for offering TripAdvisor travelers a great customer experience.”

About Edwards Waterhouse Inn

Around 1850, F.S. Edwards constructed a modest Italian-style Victorian home at 71 Central Ave. in Fredonia, that was transformed in 1895 by the new owner, Dr. John Waterhouse, into the magnificent Queen Anne structure that it is today, more than doubling the size. The house has seen many uses, from a home, sanatorium, women’s college dormitory (known as “Alumni Hall”) and apartments. In June 2012, innkeepers Maggie Bryan-Peterson and Jeff Peterson opened the doors of the Edwards Waterhouse Inn as the first bed and breakfast in the village of Fredonia municipal limits.

The Edwards Waterhouse Inn is located in one of Fredonia’s most recognizable historic homes along Central Avenue. With a long history linking generations to the structure, the conversion of the main house into a bed and breakfast was an appropriate way to ‘give’ the house back to the community. The bed and breakfast is under the proprietorship of its owners, Peterson and Bryan-Peterson. The B&B, in the Queen Anne brick house whose conversion from apartments, carefully planned, rendered the building elegant in the style of the period (1895) while incorporating utilitarian and updated conveniences. The house is the center piece for the entire B&B experience. Each of the rooms has its own private bath. The facility has a wonderful centralized grand parlor, reception room, morning room and huge dining room with an easy flow from space to space providing for guests’ comfort and pleasure. The house location is almost the exact mid-point between SUNY Fredonia and the center of the village of Fredonia.
