Chicken and biscuit dinner today

The Pine Valley Ladies Auxiliary #2522 will be holding a chicken ‘n biscuit dinner today from 4-6 p.m. The event will be held at the Cherry Creek VFW located on Route 83 in Cherry Creek. All proceeds will go to Cancer Aid & Research. For further information, call 296-8900.

Refurbished Cassadaga Library to hold Open House

The Cassadaga Branch of the Mary E. Seymour Memorial Library will have an Open House from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 30. The public is invited to stop by to view the recently refurbished library. Refreshments will be served. The Cassadaga Library is located at 18 Maple Ave.

DHS Class of 1964 planning 50th reunion

The Dunkirk High School Class of 1964 is planning its 50th reunion for 2014. The first meeting of the planning committee will be Aug. 28 at 6:30 p.m. at the Kosciusko Club downstairs. Any classmates may attend. Call Bob or Marcia (Kuemierz) Henderson at 366-0670.

Westfield Community Chorus begins rehearsal

The Westfield Community Chorus invites old and new members to join together Monday, Sept. 9 from 7 to 9 p.m. for the first rehearsal at the Westfield First United Methodist Church in the Fellowship Hall. Community members who like to sing and can reserve Monday evenings are welcome to join the group for fellowship and music. For more information, call Sally Merwin at 326-3419.

Fredonia Farmers’ Market, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Church St., adjacent to Barker Commons in downtown Fredonia. This weekly market offers an abundance of locally grown and produced vegetables, fruits, herbs, meats, baked goods, maple syrup, honey, jams, jellies, artisan quality artwork and craft goods.

Cherry Creek Fire Auxiliary Rummage Sale, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Cherry Creek Fire Hall. Bag sale starts at noon. Proceeds benefit the Cherry Creek Fire Auxiliary. Donations of items can be brought to the Fire Hall the day of the sale.

Literacy Volunteers book sale, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., 21 E. Second St., Dunkirk. 21 East Bookstore will host a book sale with paperback books $0.50 and hardcovers $1. There will be some specially priced books. Come browse, take home some bargains and assist Literacy Volunteers. Patrons are asked to use the Washington Avenue entrance.
