Stop tobacco use program set
Brooks Hospital is reaching out to help those who want to stop using tobacco. The “Beat the Pack” four-week series will be offered free of charge to all interested participants. Area residents are invited to attend the program on Oct. 16, 23, 30 and Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. in the hospital’s medical library.
“Tobacco use is the leading cause of preventable death in the United States. We are in the business of health and wellness and see this as an opportunity to address tobacco as a serious health risk and provide help to those who want to quit,” states Theresa Schrantz, LPN. “The information and tools provided in this program, as well as the interaction with others who are interested in the common goal, makes this program well-rounded and effective.”
Schrantz, who is a certified tobacco cessation educator and a member of the Southern Tier Tobacco Action Coalition, has had much success with the evidence-based program and is enthusiastic about being able to share the proven techniques and practical applications to facilitate the quit attempt.
If you, or someone you know, is interested in registering for the program or would like more information, please contact her at 363-7293 or email tschrantz@lakeeriehealth.org.
