Brocton/Portland Democratic Party spaghetti dinner
The Brocton/Portland Democratic Party will be hosting a Spaghetti Dinner on Wednesday, Oct. 25 from 4-7 p.m. at the Brocton American Legion. Pre-sale: Adults $7.50, children (under 12) $4. At the door: Adults $8 and children under 12 $4.25. Everyone is welcome to attend. Information call Dan Schrantz at 792-4661.
Parks Commission to meet Wednesday
The Chautauqua County Parks Commission will hold its monthly meeting at 4 p.m. at Robert H. Jackson Airport in Jamestown on Thursday, Oct. 26. The public is invited to attend.
English honor society hosts Open Mic Night at 21 East Bookstore
Sigma Tau Delta, the English honor society at the State University of New York at Fredonia, will host its annual Fall Open Mic Night at 21 East Bookstore, Dunkirk, on Tuesday, Oct. 24, from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
Students and faculty will share either their own creative writing or excerpts from literature at the gathering, which is free and open to the public. Complimentary apple cider and cookies will be served.
The bookstore is located at 21 E. Second St.
Halloween Parade in Forestville Oct. 31
The Forestville Fall Festival Committee along with the Forestville Fire Department will sponsor Halloween in Forestville. The Parade will be held on Oct. 31 at 6 p.m., followed by refreshments at the fire hall. Floats will be judged at 5:30 on Park Street, all others line up at Methodist Church. Costumes will be judged at the fire hall.
All area groups, organizations, families are encouraged to show their spirit and enter a float in the parade.
Trick or treating will be 5 to 8 p.m.
Fredonia School Board’s Audit Committee meets today
The Audit Committee will meet today at 5:15 p.m. in the High School, Room 600.
Thanksgiving Basket Applications being accepted starting Wednesday
Thanksgiving Basket Applications will be accepted at the Chautauqua County Rural Ministry office, 127 Central Ave. in Dunkirk on Oct. 25, 26, 27, 30 and 31, as well as Nov. 1, 2 and 3 from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Applicants must bring proof of residency, proof of income and social security cards for all family members. These are the only dates CCRM will be accepting applications and the emergency food pantry will only be open mornings on these dates. No applications will be accepted after Nov. 3 and distribution of the baskets will take place the week of Thanksgiving. With questions regarding the process or information about the Holiday Giving Program, contact the offices at 366-1787. CCRM is a United Way of Northern Chautauqua County Community Partner.
Brocton Board of Ed meeting rescheduled
Brocton CSD Board of Education meeting scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 25 has been cancelled and re-scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. The Audit Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m.
