Forestville OES chicken and biscuit public

dinner set for April 29

The Forestville Order of Eastern Star will hold a chicken and biscuit public dinner on Sunday, April 29 from noon to 4 p.m. or sold out. The event will take place at the Hanover Masonic Hall, 22 Main St., Forestville. The prices are $10 adults, $8 children. In addition to the chicken and biscuits, the men also includes vegetables, salad, dessert and beverage.

Ahira Hall Memorial Library news

The Ahira Hall Memorial Library will be holding a book sale Monday, April 30 through Friday, May 18 during regular open hours, which are Mondays and Wednesdays 1 to 8 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Fridays 1 to 5 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Hardcover and paperbacks, fiction and nonfiction, children and teen, DVDs, CDs and miscellaneous items will be for sale. The library is located at 37 W. Main St., Brocton.

The library will be holding a spring fund-raiser on Saturday, May 5 at 21 Brix Winery, 6654 W. Main Road, Portland from 1 to 4 p.m. The event will include author signings with books on the premises for purchase, raffle baskets, art and hors d’oeuvres. Wine tastings are available.

East Dunkirk Fire Department meat raffle set for Saturday

The East Dunkirk Fire Department will hold a meat raffle on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Fire Hall, 10949 S. Roberts Road, Dunkirk. Door prize tickets are $5. The first prize is a freezer full of meat, and the second prize is a gas grill. Members are raffling off beef, chicken and pork. Call 366-2211 for tickets or see any Fire Department member.

Brocton/Portland Food Pantry Mobile Pantry distribution today

The Brocton/Portland Food Pantry, located at the West Portland Baptist Church, 7081 E. Route 20, Westfield, will have the Mobile Pantry distribution of food today. Sign-ins and distribution will begin at 1 p.m. The distribution will last until 1:45 p.m.

Perrysburg Town Board special meeting today

The Perrysburg Town Board will hold a special meeting to discuss proposed or pending employment of specific individuals. The meeting will take place in the Perrysburg Town Hall, 1046 0 Peck Hill Road, Perrysburg today at 5 p.m.

Recruit event

set for Westfield

WESTFIELD — In cooperation with the Recruit NY initiative to recruit volunteer first responders, the Fire Department of Westfield will be conducting a recruitment drive on Saturday to recruit new firefighters. Between the hours of 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., anyone interested in becoming a volunteer firefighter can attend an open house at the Westfield Fire Department, 20 Clinton St.

Demonstrations and tours will be conducted during the event, and anyone interested in becoming a firefighter will have the opportunity to meet with existing members of the department to discuss the requirements for the position and answer any questions.

Sinclairville Free Library celebrates Arbor Day

Celebrate Arbor Day with arborist Lori Brockelbank at the Sinclairville Free Library on Monday, April 30 from 6 to 7 p.m. This free family program will be both fun and educational as attendees learn about trees and enjoy games, refreshments and prizes. The library is located at 15 Main St. in Sinclairville. Hanover water bills due

The last day for Hanover water customers to pay water bills without penalty is this Friday, April 27. Late payments will be charged an additional ten percent penalty fee. Payments can be made at the Town Clerk’s office in the Hanover town hall before 5 p.m.

Scouting For

Food Drive

A scouting for food drive will be conducted by Troop 219 and Pack 219 from Cassadaga. Food collection will be located at Ames Common this Saturday, April 28 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Collections will also be taken at the Cassadaga Shurfine from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. along with a hot dog sale to benefit the Cassadaga Food Pantry.

A hot dog sale and food collections will be held at Dollar General in Sinclairville for the Sinclairville Food Pantry from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Cash donations are always accepted at either site.
