Social Services (Services Division) retirees’ picnic

The Chautauqua County Department of Social Services (Services Division) retirees will hold their annual picnic this Wednesday. The picnic will be at the Carlson Community Building, Lakeside Park, 50 W. Lake Road, Mayville from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bring a dish to share, own beverage and a lawn chair. Tableware will be provided. Revitalize Dunkirk to meet Thursday

The August meeting of Revitalize Dunkirk will be held on Thursday, Aug. 16, at the Fredonia State University Technology Incubator, 214 Central Ave., Dunkirk. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. and all members of the community are welcome and encouraged to attend. Revitalize Dunkirk is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization of community members committed to bringing ideas for improving urban living to residents and elected officials of the City of Dunkirk.

The Chautauqua Center Family Fun Day

The Chautauqua Center will sponsor a Family Fun Day in Dunkirk this Thursday at the Salvation Army, 704 Central Ave. from 1-3 p.m. The event will feature a backpack and school supply giveaway throughout the day, music, face painting, obstacle course, animal exhibit, food and a carnival. Kindergarten Skills Class set for today at Dunkirk Public Library

A Kindergarten Skills Class will be held today from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Dunkirk Public Library, located at 536 Central Ave. Children entering Kindergarten can practice writing their name, letters and numbers, tying their shoes, scissor skills, and more. Silver Creek to repave Staff Avenue

The village of Silver Creek will be repaving Staff Avenue, Oak Street and Knight Street Extension starting between Aug. 16 and Aug. 20.

Movie Night at the Adams

Access to the Arts proudly presents Adams Movie Night! Visit the Adams this Thursday at 8 p.m., filming “Cinema Paradiso!”

The event is free and open to the public. Popcorn will be served.
