Brocton to interview board of education candidates

The Brocton Central School Board of Education will conduct a meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 5:30 p.m. for the purpose of conducting interviews with prospective candidates to fill the unexpired board member seat, which was vacated by Thomas DeJoe. The board will go into executive session for these interviews.

Preschool Storytime at Ahira Hall Memorial Library Tuesday

Preschool Storytime with Mrs. Westin and Mrs. Raymond will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8, in the Ahira Hall Memorial Library, 37 W. Main St., Brocton. This program is designed for children ages 2 1/2 to 5 years old. Read stories, make a craft and sing songs about winter.

Silver Creek VFW Fish Fry to return in February

The Friday Fish fry at the VFW Post 6472 Silver Creek will be closed for the month of January and will open Feb.. 15. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. We are in the process of revamping our menu and minor maintenance that needs to be done.

We will open to the public on Friday, Feb. 15 with regular hours 4-8 p.m.

The club itself is not included in the temporary shutdown and is open to all members and guests. Thank you for your support and understanding.

Village of Brocton planning board to hold public hearing

A public hearing will be held at Brocton Village Hall, 34 West Main St., Brocton on Wednesday, Jan. 16 at 5:30 p.m. for the application of Robert Bates, requesting a Special Use Permit to allow TV Repair Shop at 9 W. Main St., Brocton, Village Tax Number 145.17-1-34.

The Planning Board will consider comments of the public, the owner and the applicant, and shall thereafter, prospectively take action upon the application herein.

County Land Bank Corp. monthly meeting set

Chautauqua County Land Bank Corporation Monthly Board meeting to be held at 9 a.m. this Wednesday, in room 331, of the Gerace Office Building, Mayville.

The Chautauqua County Land Bank Corp. (CCLBC) has scheduled its monthly Board Meeting for 9:00 a.m. this Wednesday in Conference Room 331 at the Gerace Office Building, 3 N. Erie St., Mayville.

The Board meeting of the CCLBC is conducted to discuss business associated with the acquisition and sale of property by CCLBC and other official business as required (agendas will be provided at the meeting). The Acquisition/ Disposition Committee will meet prior to the Board at 8:30 a.m.

CLPRA to meet Wednesday

The members of the Chautauqua Lake Protection and Rehabilitation Agency (“CLPRA”) will meet at 4 p.m. this Wednesday in room 331 of the Gerace Office Building, 3 N. Erie St., Mayville, N.Y.

CLPRA was formed pursuant to Resolution 315-17 of the Chautauqua County Legislature to evaluate lake protection and rehabilitation needs, and make recommendations to the County Legislature regarding the creation of Chautauqua Lake protection and rehabilitation district(s) as may be necessary in the best interest of the people of Chautauqua County.

‘City Speaks’ to air this week

Fire Chief Mike Edwards and the city of Dunkirk Firefighters will be this weeks guests on “City Speaks.”

The show will be taped from the Eagle Street Fire Station and will be aired beginning Thursday through Jan. 16.
