Forestville Eastern Star to hold turkey dinner

The Forestville Eastern Star will hold a turkey dinner on Saturday, Jan. 26 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Forestville Masonic Lodge, 22 Main St., Forestville. The dinner is open to the public. Tickets are $12.

Middle Road to be closed today for

railroad crossing repairs

Railroad crews will be making emergency repairs to the Middle Road (County Route 82) railroad crossing located in the City of Dunkirk today. Middle Road will be closed to all traffic at the CSX railroad crossing beginning at 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. It was originally scheduled to be closed Thursday. A detour will not be posted.

Northern Chautauqua Catholic School Soup, Dessert Cook Off and Basket Extravaganza set for Sunday

Northern Chautauqua Catholic School will hold its annual Soup and Dessert Cook Off and Basket Extravaganza on Sunday, Jan. 27 from noon to 3 p.m. The school is located at 336 Washington Ave., Dunkirk. The cost is $5 per entry. Cash prizes are $50 for first place, $25 for second place and $15 for third place. Community members can vote for favorites entries for $3. Full portions of soup are available for $3 per bowl; and desserts for $2 per plate. Tickets for chances at dozens of theme baskets can be purchased for $5 per sheet or buy four sheets, get one free.
