Forestville Eastern Star plans lasagna dinner

The Forestville Eastern Star will hold a lasagna dinner on Saturday, March 9 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Lodge, Main Street, Forestville. The cost is $12 per meal.

Pine Valley CSD Capital Improvement Committee meeting rescheduled

SOUTH DAYTON — Due to inclement weather, the Pine Valley Central School District has rescheduled its Capital Improvement Committee meeting. The meeting will be held on Monday, March 11 from 6-8 p.m. in the Elementary School Boardroom. School administrators, Board of Education members and representatives from Gordon W. Jones Associates Architects, P.C., will be present to gather feedback from the public and answer questions.

The event is the first in a series of open meetings that will examine the District’s Building Conditions Survey. The committee will ultimately make recommendations for the scope of future projects. Topics that will be explored include safety, accessibility, general maintenance and enhancements to educational programs.

Son’s of American Legion Squad 59 to meet March 12

The Son’s of American Legion Squad 59 will be holding their monthly meeting, March 12 at 7 p.m. at Post 59, 156 E. Main St., Fredonia.

Commander Rod Dziduch will announced that the family picnic will be Aug. 10 this year. Russell Joy Park has been reserved and plans for this year’s event will be discussed.

All SAL are encouraged to attend the meetings which are held on the second Tuesday of every month.

Troop No. 20237 to hold Cookie Booth Sales

Girl Scout Troop No. 20237 from Dunkirk will be holding cookie booth sales at the following locations:

Clarion Hotel, 30 Lake Shore Drive E., Dunkirk: Wednesdays, March 6, 13, 20 and 27 from 5 to 8 p.m.;

Wal-Mart, 10401 Bennett Rd, Fredonia: Friday, March 8 from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, March 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.;

Tractor Supply, 3978 Vineyard Drive, Dunkirk: Saturday, March 9 from 10 a.m. to 1p.m.;

Kosciusko Club, 252 Nevins St.,. Dunkirk: Fridays, March 15 and 22 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Cherry Creek VFW to host tournament March 9

The CHERRY CREEK VFW, 7165 N. Cherry Creek-Leon Road, Cherry Creek, is excited about bringing some old traditions back – a QUOITZ, open to all, Tournament.” This awesome event carried over from the late 60s is one of the most care- free fun day one will have….Bar None!! The day get-together is filled with laughter. Wearing raccoon hats, dressing in colorful attire, or simply come as you please is all the norm for this activity. Come and throw this flattened ring of iron on Saturday, March 9 at noon. There is no “RINGER” of a team since teams are created by random. Come solo or with your friends. Start time is 1 p.m.
