Dunkirk town zoning, planning boards set Wednesday workshop

The Town of Dunkirk Zoning and Planning Boards will hold a workshop at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, at the Town Hall, 4737 Willow Road. The purpose of the workshop is to continue with revisions to the Town Zoning Code.

Chautauqua County Antique Equipment Association meeting set for Tuesday

The Chautauqua County Antique Equipment Association will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 26 at 7 p.m. at the Laona Methodist Church, 9636 Wilson Road, Fredonia (Laona). All members are urged to attend.

Landis to show budget today at meeting

Today at 6:30 p.m., there will be a special meeting of the village of Fredonia Board of Trustees to present Mayor Athanasia Landis’ tentative budget. The meeting will take place in the Trustees Room on the second floor of Village Hall.

Fredonia school board to meet Tuesday

The Fredonia Board of Education will hold a regular meeting Tuesday, March 26 at 6 p.m. in the high school library.

Free workshop ‘Walk Away from Stress’ set for Thursday

A free workshop, “Walk Away from Stress,” will be offered Thursday, March 28 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Om Nohm Bakery, 45 Temple St., Fredonia. The presenter will be Kristian Reiber, certified wellness coach.

Audubon spaghetti fundraiser Saturday

Audubon Community Nature Center will hold a “Spaghetti for Spatterdock Bridge” fund-raising event on Saturday, March 30, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Center, located at 1600 Riverside Road, Jamestown. Costs are: adults: $15, ages 6 to 12: $10. Dinners for ages 5 and under are free. Reservations are appreciated. Call 569-2345 or see audubon.org/programs, current schedule. Bring extra cash to win a Portage Pie or to purchase chocolate chip cookies. Arrive early to explore the exhibits and visit Liberty, Audubon’s non-releasable Bald Eagle. The Nature Center building will open to guests until 7:30 p.m.

Delinquent water-sewer bills added to Fredonia 2019 village taxes

All Fredonia water/sewer bills that are delinquent after April 1, 2019, will be added to the 2019 village taxes. The tax bills are expected to be mailed by June 1, with payment due without penalty on or before July 1, 2019.

The property tax rate in the village, currently at $35.19 per $1,000 assessed valuation, will be determined after the village board adopts its 2019-20 budget.

The board must adopt a budget by May 1, 2019. The 2019-20 fiscal year begins June 1, 2019.

Lakeshore Humane Society plans Pet Adoption Day Saturday

The Lakeshore Humane Society will hold a Pet Adoption Day/Open House at its Adoption Center on Saturday, March 30 from 12 to 4 p.m. The center is located at 431 E. Chestnut St., Dunkirk. Come to see the facility, and meet some of the dogs and cats who need caring homes.

If unable to come to an Adoption Day, please call 672-1991 to arrange an appointment to see the dogs and cats awaiting adoption. (One must be 21 years of age or older to adopt a pet.)

While at the LHS Adoption Center, check out the “Cat’s Meow” Boutique! Also, note that the LHS is collecting refundable bottles and cans in a collection bin in the lobby of the Adoption Center.
