Valley Historical Society to meet Tuesday

The Valley Historical Society will hold its first meeting of 2019 on Tuesday, April 2 at 7 p.m. at the South Stockton Wayside Chapel, located at 5537 Route 380.

As part of the meeting, a maple party will be held where attendees will be instructed in the art of whipping maple syrup into maple cream and maple sugar. All those attending are asked to bring a small bowl and a spoon. Syrup will be supplied at no charge.

The Valley Historical Society is the official Historical Society of the Cassadaga Valley and has existed since 1977. Members maintain a museum building in Sinclairville filled with artifacts of the valley. Anyone interested in local history or maple cream making is invited to attend the meeting. Chautauqua County Planning Board to meet

The Chautauqua County Planning Board’s monthly meeting will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, at the Department of Public Facilities Sherman Shop building, 7934 Sherman-Stedman Road, Sherman. Meetings of the County Planning Board are held on the first Tuesday of every month and are always open to the public.

Sinclairville Free Library musical jam session set for April 4

The Sinclairville Free Library invites the public to participate in a musical jam session on Thursday, April 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. Bring your voices and/or instruments as the library comes together to make music in the community. Audience members are also welcome. This program is free and open to all ages. Library Jam Sessions are scheduled for the first Thursday monthly from 5 to 7 p.m., with the exception of the 4th of July. The library is located at 15 Main St. in Sinclairville. Gowanda Moose Club to host meat raffle

Gowanda Loyal Order of Moose 1382 is hosting a ham, turkey and meat raffle on Thursday, April 4 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Moose Lodge, 201 Aldrich St., Gowanda. The raffle will benefit the “Raise the Roof Fund” to repair the building. Enjoy a burger or hot dog, chips and draft beer with $5 entry donation fee. Money raffle tickets are $10 each and 10 cash prizes up to $1,000 will be awarded.

Old-fashioned Barn Dance set for April 5

An Old-fashioned Barn Dance will take place Friday, April 5 from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Fredonia Grange No. 1, 58 W. Main St., Fredonia. Costs are: adults: $7, students: $5, ages 12 and under free. Dances include squares, contras, mixers and more. The event is beginner friendly, family friendly. No experience is needed.
