Idol Kings concert cancelled for tonight

The Idol Kings concert on Friday, Oct. 25, has been rescheduled due to the sudden death of the lead singer’s father. It has been rescheduled for Friday, March 20, at 7:30 p.m.

For patrons who already have purchased tickets, those tickets will be honored at the March 20 concert. Ticketholders unable to attend the March date should call the Opera House box office at 679-1891 for information on refund options.

Laona Parade and Party Saturday

The Laona Parade and Party will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 3 p.m. at the Laona cemetery at the Webster road entrance.

Attendees will parade to the playground for costume judging, refreshments and the traditional 50/50. The proceeds go to the Easter egg hunt event.

All are invited to this event. Please dress according to the weather conditions.

Fredonia Halloween parade is Saturday

The village of Fredonia and town of Pomfret Recreation Department annual Halloween Costume Parade is scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. The afternoon event will begin with floats, bands and costumed marchers parading south on Temple Street to Church Street.

Individual marchers and organized groups are encouraged to participate in the parade and are asked to line up at 12:30 p.m. at the end of Risley Street. Prizes will be awarded to the best-judged entries.

Applications to march in the parade can be downloaded from the Village website at villageoffredoniany.com. Applications must be submitted to the Recreation Department no later than today.

Following the parade, cider and doughnuts will be served in the Barker Commons Gazebo. Everyone is invited to participate.

Trick or treating will take place in the village and town from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Parents are encouraged to tell their children not to trick or treat beyond 7 p.m. Residents are urged to turn porch lights off at 7, thus signaling further trick or treating will not be accepted.

Brocton Fire Dept. meats raffles set

Brocton Fire Dept. will hold a Turkey and other Meats Raffles on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. at the Brocton American Legion, 110 W. Main St. There will also be a Christmas cash drawing. Free refreshments will be provided.
