Christmas in the Creek event planned for today

The public is invited to get a head start on holiday shopping at the Christmas in the Creek vendor and craft show in the gymnasiums of the Silver Creek Central School District, 1 Dickinson St., on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Concessions will be available and a basket raffle will be held. Gift wrapping by the Silver Creek varsity cheerleaders available for a donation.

Fredonia Farmers’ Market

Today, Oct. 26, will be Fredonia Farmer’s Market’s last week outdoors, and they’re celebrating with a Halloween party! The event will include pumpkin decorating, kid’s activities by the Girls and Boys Club, and hot cider and s’mores by Paul’s Rocket Stoves. So dress up and come on down for some great fun.

The vendors still have lots of great fruits and vegetables, plus baked goods, meat, maple products, and craft goods. DeGolier’s Maple Products will have free hot pancakes. Next Saturday, Nov. 2, we will move indoors to the Fredonia Masonic Lodge on East Main Street, with winter hours 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Weavers Guild October meeting today

Chautauqua County Weavers Guild will hold its next meeting on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 10 a.m. at the YWCA, 58 S. Portage St., Westfield. The program will be double weave structures. Anyone interested in weaving or the guild is welcome to attend. For more information, contact the guild at ccweaversguild@gmail.com

Taking back unwanted prescription drugs

Today, Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the North Collins Police Department, The Erie County Department of Health and the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public another opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs and needles. Bring your medications and syringes for disposal to the North Collins Police Department in the Municipal Building at 10543 Main St., North Collins.

The service is free and anonymous – no questions asked.

Brocton Fire Company Turkey Party

The Brocton Fire Company will hold its annual turkey party today, Oct. 26 starting at 7 p.m. at the Brocton American Legion on 110 W. Main St. Turkeys, hams, steaks and shrimp will be raffled off as well as many door prizes. Free admission and refreshments. There will be a drawing for a $1,000 Christmas cash prize.

VFW Auxiliary Post 2522 dinner

VFW Auxiliary Post 2522 has planned a dinner at Pine Valley VFW, Route 83, Cherry Creek today, Oct. 26 from 4 to 7 p.m. Patrons can choose a chicken and biscuit dinner or barbecue pulled pork with mashed potatoes, vegetable, tossed salad, rolls and dessert for a donation of $8.

Sheridan Memorial VFW benefit

The Sheridan Memorial VFW Post #6390, located at 2556 Main Road, Dunkirk, is having a dinner special tonight, Oct. 26 from 5 to 7 p.m. The dinner will feature your choice of prime rib, lobster tail, ribs, shrimp, or chicken. Proceeds of this dinner special will be donated to the fight against Breast Cancer.

Dunkirk Lakeshore Bowling Association meat raffle

Dunkirk Lakeshore Bowling Association will be hosting a meat raffle today, Oct. 26 at the Sheridan VFW, 2556 Main Road, Silver Creek. Doors open at 6 p.m. The raffle will start at 7 p.m. The cost of admission is $5. There will also be 50/50 and bowling ball raffles. The event is open to the public.

Northern Chautauqua County Club Associates

The Northern Chautauqua County Club Associates will hold its next regular monthly meeting on Sunday, Oct. 27, at 10:30 a.m. at the Brocton Legion Post 434, 110 W. Main St. in Brocton.
