Brocton School Board to meet

The Brocton Central School District is having a school board meeting tonight, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m. in the Board Room.

Audit and Control special meeting

Chautauqua County Audit & Control Legislature Committee Chairman Pierre Chagnon has called a special meeting to be held Thursday at 9 a.m. in Room 333 of the Gerace Office Building, 3 North Erie St/, Mayville. The agenda will include a discussion of Single Audit proposals and other fiscal matters with Finance Director Crow.

County Legislature to meet Thursday

Chautauqua County Legislature Chairman Paul M. Wendel has called a special meeting to be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at Legislature Chambers, Gerace Office Building, 3 North Erie St., Mayville. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss collective negotiations, and it is expected that the discussions will be held in executive session.

Instruction for dealing with adolescents offered

Sensitivity awareness instruction is a crucial part of communication and self-awareness with today’s adolescents. Prevention Works will offer a workshop on Thursday, Nov. 14 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Levant Wesleyan Church, 1670 Lindquist Drive, Falconer. The cost is $50. The deadline is Nov. 7. Annual Taste of the South

The Juneteenth 2020 Celebration Committee will be sponsoring the Annual Taste of the South on Friday, Nov. 8 from 5 to 7 p.m., at St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church, 16 W. Fourth St., Dunkirk. The theme for the event is “The Taste of Autumn.”

The Annual Taste of the South is an all-you-can-eat Southern style African American down home celebration buffet featuring sweet potato casserole, soups, macaroni and cheese, corn bread, pineapple upside down cake, sweet potato pie, mushroom chicken, smothered pork chops, green beans. and many other dishes. The costs are $10 adults, $5 children under 10.

There will also be a Juneteenth basket raffle during the event.

This event will kick off the Juneteenth 2020 celebration. For more information and reservations, call Laurie at 785-7900 or Loretta at 363-1102.

The public is invited to attend.

B-side Uke Jam set for Friday

A B-side Uke Jam will take place on Friday, Nov. 8 at 6 p.m. at the East Main Cafe, 183 E. Main St., Fredonia. Intended for ukulele enthusiasts who are a step beyond beginners, participants should be familiar with basic chords (C, F, Am, G, Em, D, Dm) and strumming as well as some picking. Everyone is welcome, but this moves at a quicker pace than usual jam sessions. For details, email Jill Reese at reese@fredonia.edu. This is a free event.
