Silver Creek no longer collecting heavy metal, brush

Wednesday, Nov. 25 was the last day for heavy metal pickup in the village of Silver Creek for the winter months. Collections will begin again in March of 2020.

Brush collection has been suspended for the winter months and will resume in April of 2020.

Also please note that from Nov. 15, Through April 1 there is no overnight parking on village streets between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. to assist with snow removal.

Dunkirk Public Library December Children’s Events

The Dunkirk Public Library, located at 536 Central Avenue, has scheduled two special events in addition to their usual programming. On Saturday, Dec. 14, it will hold “Christmas Craft Day” from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This program is designed for ages 2 to 10 to make 5 Christmas crafts to give as gifts or to keep. Children can enjoy refreshments and receive a small gift. Free, open to public.

On Wednesday, Dec. 18, “Decorate Christmas Cookies at the Library,” will take place from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., Children ages 2 to 10 can frost and decorate sugar cookies.
