County DPF Division of Solid Waste to return to normal operations

The Chautauqua County Department of Public Facilities Division of Solid Waste will be returning to normal operations effective today, March 23.

In light of further clarification from the state that sanitation and solid waste are considered essential services, the North, South, West and Ellery County Transfer Stations and the County Landfill will open under normal business hours.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our community, DPF encourages residents of the county to minimize any unnecessary travel.

Forestville announces PreK and Kindergarten registration

The Forestville Elementary School is currently making plans for next year’s Kindergarten and Pre-kindergarten registrations. Children who will be five years old by Dec. 1 are eligible for Kindergarten. Children who will be four years old by Dec. 1 are eligible for Pre-kindergarten. At this time, any parent who has not yet contacted the district and has a child who falls into either of these categories should call the elementary office at 965-2742.

Kindergarten registration packets have been sent out. Kindergarten Roundup is scheduled for May at 12:30 p.m. Pre-K orientation is scheduled for May 14 at 6 p.m.

Forestville Central School is reminding parents of the deadline to request student transportation to non-public schools for the school year 2020-21. Requests must be made in writing no later than April 1 to Renee Garrett, Superintendent, 12 Water St. Forestville, NY 14062.

Amish Folk Art Quilting Class rescheduled

The Amish Folk Art Quilting Class scheduled for April 4 will be postponed to June 6.

Come join our Amish Artisans in Downtown Leon at the Old 1836 Church at the four corners, in the heart of Amish Country. The project for June 6 (which was originally set for April 4) will be Bear Paw Pattern Mug Rugs. $40 includes donuts, coffee, lunch and all supplies needed to complete one

On May 2, the scheduled project is Quilted Japanese Style Aprons. The location, price and refreshment information is the same.

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton not available for prayer this week

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton has announced it will not be open for private prayer during the week. This is due to Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s latest request for 100% of non-essential businesses be closed. Any questions, visit www.seasdunkirkny.org for additional information.

Brocton Board of Education not meeting

The Brocton Central School District Board of Education meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 25 is cancelled.
