Main Street extension to see cleanup

Main Street extension in the city of Dunkirk was closed Tuesday due to flooding of Crooked Brook.

The road is now reopen but may close again next week for ditch cleaning.

“We’re looking at cleaning up the ditch on the east side between the road and the railroad tracks,” Director of Public Works Randy Woodbury said. “We want it to look nice.”

Woodbury said the city is looking to start cleanup next week, but shouldn’t take too long.

Village issues warning on flushing of mains, hydrants

Starting on Monday, the village of Fredonia began flushing water mains and fire hydrants in and around the village. The flushing will be done from 3 p.m. to 7 a.m.

The flushing will take approximately two weeks and during this process, residents may experience turbid water and reduced water pressure. The village recommends that residents check the quality of their water before doing laundry.

50 Plus Seniors announce plans, activities for week

COLLINS — The Dec. 6 through 11 activity schedule for the Collins 50 Plus Seniors includes:

¯ Sunday, Dec. 6: Pickleball at 6:30 p.m. at the Collins Town Park or the Painter Center gym.

¯ Monday, Dec. 7: Exercises with Pat at 10 a.m. in the L.K. Painter Center gym.

¯ Tuesday, Dec. 8: Active Senior Aerobics with Kim at 9 a.m. in the L.K. Painter Center gym for a small fee.

¯ Wednesday, Dec. 9: Exercises with Pat at 10 a.m. in the L.K. Painter Center gym; games and crafts at 1 p.m. in the Painter Center Rose Room; and senior bowling at 1 p.m. In the K & L Lanes in Gowanda (with a small fee for bowling).

¯ Thursday, Dec. 10: Pickleball at 1 p.m. in the L.K. Painter Center gym.

¯ Friday, Dec. 11: Exercises with Pat at 10 a.m. in the L.K. Painter Center gym.
